So, you got your fiber fix at Sheep & Wool this past weekend. NOW let’s brush up on your spinning skills. Bring your supplies or buy in store. Nancy Newman of Spinnit will show you the basics of drop spindle spinning and you can test out the spinning wheel using various fibers. BYO spindle and fiber if you have it or purchase it in the store.

Instructor John Moore enjoys refurbishing typewriters, old cameras and vintage sewing machines. As a quilter, he knows the ins & outs of using and caring for all types of vintage machines. He’ll walk you through everything you need to know to care for yours and keep it running for years to come.
Bring your machine and its accessories if it is portable, or if you can safely remove it from the cabinet. Students do NOT have to bring their machines to benefit from this 1 1/2 hour class.
Topics covered include:
-How to evaluate electrical components for safety.
-How to thoroughly clean and lubricate the working parts of a vintage sewing machine.
-Where the common problems occur, such as thread jams or broken needles, and how to avoid them.
-How to clean and restore the finish on a vintage sewing machine.
-Students will be sent home with an information sheet so they can perform any maintenance that needs to be done at home.
